What Will Go In The Kit

Duration of Swap:
Two (2) Months

Swap Ends: August 7th

Participation:
All participants will need to check in weekly. There will be a weekly check-in thread posted. Passes will be given to those on vacation and if family emergencies come up, but any absences must be communicated as soon as possible. After being absent for two weeks with no communication swappers will be dropped from the swap.

The deadline for mailing your swap package is FRIDAY, AUGUST 22! Please let your Hostess know if you do not receive your package in a timely manner. Also, get in touch with your Hostess and your "spoilee" if you are not going to be able to mail on time. It's better to tell your spoilee/Hostess that you may be late mailing rather than have an upset spoilee because of lack of coummunication.

Scavenger Hunt

It's time for our first contest! Listed below are scavenger hunt questions. Feel free to work with other members of your Blend -- pool resources to find answers if you want. Your answers are all about members of the swap so, in providing your answers, give the name of the swap member. In other words, document your research! You can repeat people, i.e., if you find a person who fits multiple categories, feel free to name them over and over again!

There are two categories, the answers for the first group of questions should be about your Blend only; the answers for the second group are from the swap as a whole.

If you have a blog, please post your answers there so we can all enjoy your efforts. If you don't have a blog, please email or PM your answers to your Blend Hostess.

DEADLINE FOR COMPLETED HUNT IS FRIDAY, AUGUST 1!

Swap Update

On behalf of all the Hostesses, I hope that everyone has now been contacted by their swap partners, reviewed their swap partners questionnaires, and started preparation of swap kits. Part of the fun of any swap is finding those little extras that make kits special and unique. Keep in mind that the mailing date is August 22. Kits can obviously be sent prior to that date, and early mailing is encouraged.

In this swap there will be no specific requirement to maintain weekly contact with your swap partner as in many other swaps. No one will be checking up on you, but we strongly encourage you to take the time to get to know each other. We obviously all share common interests in both knitting and Starbucks. Take the time to find out what other interests you share with your swap partners. You may be surprised!

This swap is sponsored by School of Swap on Ravelry. We encourage you to make use of School of Swap as a tool in making your swap experience successful, particularly if you are a first-time swapper. It's a wonderful method for establishing accountability and staying on track.

Later this week an inter-blend scavenger hunt will commence. Some of the items can be found by searching through all the blends, others will be specific to individual blends. Prizes will be awarded. Grab a mug of your favorite blend and settle in for some fun.

Finally, weekly chats in the Coffee Lounge will commence this week. Neila will host the first chat on Wednesday, July 16, at 9:00 EDT (8:00 CDT, 7:00 MDT, and 6:00 PDT). We realize that not everyone can be present right at the start of the chat. Please feel free to drop in anytime during the evening. We try to pick times when people in most time zones are available. Swap partner assignments will begin going out today. Everyone should have their spoilee information by this Wednesday. If you don't get an email about who your partner is by Wednesday evening go ahead and send an email to your group hostess.

Mailing Requirements

Mailing Requirements
All U.S. residents are required to purchase Delivery Confirmation for your packages. You MUST send your hostess the confirmation number after mailing your package. If you live in another country and are able to get some type of tracking information for your package this will suffice.

U.S. Flat Rate Boxes
Hopefully many of you know about this option, which the postal service provides. Flat Rate boxes!! Whatever you can fit into this box will only cost you $9.80 to ship, plus your Certified Mail or Certificate of Mailing fees. The joy of it is that you can get the boxes from the postal service for free. You can either order them online or visit your local postal site and request them in person. I hear that they also have a flat rate box for $12.95.

SWAP LIMIT EXPANDED

We have been very pleasantly surprised to discover that as of this afternoon the Swap had already reached the limit set of 36 people. Because of so many quick responses, your hostesses met in The Coffee Lounge and decided that we will expand the limit to 75 people. Each hostess would have a maximum of 25 caffeine-addicted people in her group. If you have friends who love Starbucks and yarn, invite them to join the fun! Sign ups close June 30th.

The Coffee Lounge is now open for everyone to utilize. The link is at the top of the lefthand sidebar and the password needed to enter is Coffeebean (capitalize the C). Please drop in anytime and start getting to know others.

Hello!!!
I hope that you are as excited about this swap as I am. I love, love, love Starbucks. Now that I work two full-time jobs I've become rather addicted, actually. So, to bring others into my cup of coffee the School of Swap on Ravelry have decided to help me in hosting the Starbucks and Yarn swap.
